Hi,
If possible the ability to change the date format would be useful e.g. day/month/year

The date stamp format depends on your Windows Locale settings. Go to Control Panel -> Regional and Language Options icon -> Regional Options tab -> click on Customize button -> Date tab, and there you'll be able to specify short and long date formats.
You can also make it long or short via Tools -> Options -> Defaults screen -> Date Stamp Format.
